Problems faced by NGOs in Gurgaon district

Problems faced by NGOs in Gurgaon district

Issues with Admissions: Presently, 'Prayatna' is focusing on enrollment of migrant children of village Molahera, sector 22, sector 23 into nearby govt. schools, which are in Molahera and Carterpuri.

“With effect of Right To Education Act 2009 from 1st April all children have the right to access free and compulsory education.” While admitting children into Molahera govt. school, 'Prayatna' faced the following problems:

Approach to District Administration:

Media Support:

Dainik Bhaskar reported the matter, followed up regularly, and gave continuous coverage. This pressured school authorities and helped escalate the issue.

Current Problem:

The benefits are exclusive to 'Prayatna' and not general:

Common issues and challenges

  • We aim for full RTE implementation, not just individual admissions.
  • Delhi has a working RTE helpline—Haryana doesn’t.
  • No Child Right Protection Commission in Haryana, unlike Delhi.
  • Even officials are unaware of RTE terms. Need official notifications to all schools.
  • There should be a designated ‘RTE Helping Hand’ in each govt. school—knowledgeable and supportive.

Possible solutions

NGOs can help ensure smoother admissions and implementation:

  • Meet officials and push for proper notification across state schools.
  • NGOs can volunteer as RTE Helping Hands at schools.
  • RTE Section 2(h) includes NGOs as local authorities. We can work with municipal bodies.
  • Demand formation of State Child Right Protection Commission in Haryana and raise this to the CM.
